Default Ranger solo IDS farming?

I recall seing a build about soloing the ice gimps up in mineral springs w/ a ranger.. I think the build was based around poison arrow. I searched for ~20 min and came out empty handed. Can anyone help me find this post?

1 advice: use a fiery bow, when i use a normal 15^50 flatbow, my dmg is around 40dmg(normal arrow)
with my fiery bow, its around 60dmg, so it really helps

well... when i used to IDS farm (when they were actually worth farming imo... when they went for 60K+) i would use Kindle Arrows... that turns your dmg in Fire dmg so you can bring a poisoners string... for Poison Arrow {E}

Are there any tricks to keeping the Imps out of Maelstrom range?

Seems like even with a flat/longbow they continually get closer to me and start casting Maelstrom.

takes some practice... but what i used to do was pull and then walk back a lil'... then all they'll do is wand you while your still able to attack them with your Long/Flat bow

barrage works 'faster'?

barrage + firey long/flatbow, sounds like it would do the trick.. i'd have to tinker with the attribute distribution though. thanks for the idea; i hadn't really considered it.

edit // i only happen to have a icy and shocking bowstring on hand. would these have similiar dmg output as a fiery bow string?

nope... Fire dmg does a lot more dmg to Ice-type monsters... Icy and Shocking would just do normal dmg to em'
